Homeschool
We are just completing our 8th year of homeschooling. Our school is named Manna Christian Academy. We are just finishing up this school year with a child in Kindergarten, 2nd grade, 4th grade, and 7th grade. We will again be using Bob Jones University's HomeSat program this upcoming year.
See below for the reason we named our school what we did.
Manna Christian Academy
The very word manna, holds within its meaning, beliefs, concepts, and attitudes we hope to instill in our children. We know manna is the food the Israelites ate in the wilderness for forty years, but there’s more.
Exactly what is manna?
Beliefs:
Manna --- Food from heaven (God rained down food from heaven, Exodus 16:4)
Manna --- a physical manifestation of God’s glory (In the morning you will see the glory of the Lord. Ex. 16:7)
Manna --- a provision, given daily, new and fresh every day. (Jesus explains he is the bread from heaven, the bread of Life, John 6:32 – 35)
Concepts:
Manna --- a corporate promise with an individual portion (Each person must gather their own manna every morning, Exodus 16)
God always gives his grace according to our individual needs (Those who gathered much had an omer, those who gathered little, had enough, Exodus 16)
Attitudes:
Manna --- Daily dependence on the Lord (Give us this day, our daily bread, Matthew 6:11)
Manna --- a gift, for teaching his own ways. Long term victories happen one day at a time, not all at once (God’s mercies are new every morning, Lamentations 3:22 & 23)
Statement:
We are depending on God’s glory, His presence On God’s grace, His gift and, On God’s manna, His daily provision, for a successful school.
We recognize that we ourselves cannot hope to accomplish such a task without the presence of the Lord. |
